Ed Wilson somehow found his way from being the sheltered son of a dairy farmer on Manitoulin Island to being the executive director of International Justice Mission Canada, the Canadian partner in the largest anti-slavery organization in the world.  When his role with IJM Canada wrapped up at the end of 2018, he embarked on the adventure of discovering the next opportunity to serve the poor and marginalized members of our global and local communities.  With only a B.A. in English, it is Ed’s ability to invest himself fully in whatever opportunity is at hand and his eagerness to learn from those who have travelled the trail before him that have qualified him for past and future responsibilities. His friends say his strongest personality traits are perseverance, vulnerability and teachability.

Since 2002, Ed’s leisure time has been characterized by a commitment to a weekly long, slow run, which has allowed ample time for meditation and reflection.  He has lost count of the number of marathons he has completed but believes it is in excess of 20. His running partner—and partner in all the joys and sorrows of life—is Judy, who works as a nurse at London Health Sciences Centre.  Together, they are proud parents and grandparents of three married children and three grandsons.

Believing that an unexamined life is a waste of good experiences (and some bad ones), Ed draws inspiration for life and leadership from the things he sees and experiences on the running and hiking trail.
